4 Naturally Derived Ingredients that Benefit Your Heart

There are many ingredients derived naturally from plants that can be a beneficial addition to your healthcare routine. Cardiac Glycosides, Antioxidants, B-Vitamins, and Vitamin C fall into this category. Each of these can improve your health and give you the preventative care you need.

Cardiac Glycosides:

The compounds known as Cardiac Glycosides are derived from Bryophyllum Pinnatum and the foxglove plant, the most common of which is digoxin. They inhibit the ion transport system that is essential for normal cell function. The compounds’ ability to improve cardiac output makes them beneficial to patients with chronic heart failure.

Antioxidants:

The primary function of antioxidants is to slow or prevent the oxidation of molecules that can become free-radicals. An excess of free radicals in the body can produce a harmful imbalance known as oxidative stress. The free radical process is triggered by pollution or toxicity in our food or environment. Constant exposure and production of free radicals can negatively affect the systems within our body.  Including antioxidants in your health routine, either through your diet or through natural supplements, can reduce the negative effects of free radicals. Organic, raw fruits and vegetables, free from pesticides, are full of antioxidants. Some of the biggest sources are berries, kale, and sweet potatoes. Green tea is also naturally derived from leaves that are rich in antioxidants. With antioxidants so easily accessible, there is no reason not to include them in your diet!

B-Vitamins:

Other healthful compounds that can be found in the food you eat, or directly in some natural supplements, are B-Vitamins. They are tied to reducing your risk of stroke, healthy blood, and improved energy levels. Some of the most beneficial B-Vitamins are B1, B2 (Riboflavin), B3 (Niacin), B5 (Pantothenic Acid), B6 (Pyridoxine), B7 (Biotin), B9 (Folate), and B12 (Cobalamin). Each one has a beneficial impact on the human body and including one, or more, in your diet is a way to keep your body and heart healthy!

Vitamin C:

Vitamin C is found predominately in fruits and vegetables. Also known as ascorbic acid, Vitamin C helps to repair tissue and decrease LDL (the cholesterol we don’t want). It is also a common recommendation to fight off the cold or flu because of its benefit to the immune system. The recommended daily amount of Vitamin C is 90mg for men and 75 mg for women per day.

Improving your heart and overall health does not have to include harsh prescription medication! Naturally derived ingredients can give your body the energy and protective boost it needs to live a long, healthy, and happy life.
